Jose Mourinho believes Didier Drogba will return to Chelsea "one day".
Drogba, who signed for Galatasaray in January, had earlier this year hinted he could be tempted to return to Chelsea if he was given the chance to work with Mourinho again.
Reports earlier this month suggested the 'Special One' wanted to bring the Ivory Coast international back to Stamford Bridge as a player - something which his agent recently ruled out.
Drogba has one year left on his contract in Turkey, but Mourinho believes that Chelsea will always be the 35-year-old's true home.
"Drogba is worshipped at this club and this is perfectly normal," he told A Bola.
"I think one day he'll return to Chelsea.
"He is a very important player in Chelsea's history and will always be in the memory of the fans, the management, the owner and his team-mates.
"It is normal that he will have a future at Chelsea. As a coach? I do not know."
Drogba's agent, Ceylan Caliskan, earlier this month claimed the Blues recently failed with a bid to take the former Shanghai Shenhua forward back to west London.
"Mourinho called Drogba and told him he would like to see him back," Caliskan was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"However, Drogba is very happy at Galatasaray and he informed his former coach that he has no intention of leaving."
