Speaking ahead of the game, French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet has said it was his call for the friendly game to take place following the Paris attacks.

All 23 France players arrived in England on Monday after turning down the option to withdraw from the game.

129 people were killed on Friday following multiple attacks on bars, restaurants, a concert hall and a stadium in Paris.

France midfielder Lassana Diarra’s cousin, Asta Diakite, was one of those killed, while striker Antoine Griezmann’s sister escaped from the Bataclan theatre where 89 people died.

Both players were involved in France’s friendly with Germany at the Stade de France, which was targeted, but are in the squad to face England.

Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps had offered his players the chance to withdraw from the game, as France observes three days of mourning, after the FFF turned down the English FA’s offer to cancel the match.

Le Graet was quoted by The Times as saying it was “me alone who made the call for the friendly to go ahead.”

He added: “Then I informed Deschamps around midday on Saturday. The players had nothing to do with the fact that this game will take place.”
