Barcelona's Adriano has praised Jordi Alba following speculation that the left-back is set to quit Valencia and join him at Camp Nou.

Former Valencia coach Unai Emery revealed earlier this week that Valencia had already agreed to sell Alba.

Neither Los Che or Barca have commented on any deal going through, and although Adriano has refused to comment on whether the Catalans have won the race to sign the Spain international, he told reporters: "I really like Jordi Alba as a footballer, he is a very good player, very good defensively.

"He can also do a lot of damage when he goes up the field and he has a lot of technical quality.

"If Barca sign him, he would be welcome."

On Thursday, Emery had said: "Valencia is a team that buys players who are not the finished article and then, when they are finished, possibly sells them on, as has happened with Jordi Alba."

Manchester United have also been linked with the defender.
