First it was Neymar, now Joey Barton has criticised his compatriot Thiago Silva via Twitter.
Barton on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Silva ahead of Paris Saint Germain’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie at home to Barcelona, calling the defender "fat" and "overrated".
Barton, currently on loan at Marseille, took to Twitter after Silva brushed off comments the midfielder had recently made about the Brazil national team and his compatriot Neymar.
He tweeted: "Thiago Silva. That the same p**** thats been injured all season. Another over rated Brazilian. Sort your hamstrings out FatBoy."
Silva, who was one of the better players in PSG's 2-2 draw with Barca, had earlier shrugged off Barton’s jibes about Brazil.
"Right now, I hear a lot people criticise the Selecao. Even a player of Marseille, whose name I can not remember," the centre-back had said.
"As nobody talks about him, perhaps it distracts him drooling over great players so we know he exists.
"What this person should never forget is that we have more stars on our jersey than any other. There are five. Five World Cups. This deserves a little respect.
"It makes me want to win even more, to silence the Englishman. What does he know about Brazilian football? I have no recollection of having played against him with the national team."
Neymar recently said he had never heard of Barton following an outburst earlier in the season.
