Sporting Lisbon are set to offer Ricky van Wolfswinkel, who has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, a new contract to keep him at the club.
Several Premier League clubs are believed to be monitoring the Netherlands international, with Chelsea known to be showing interest prior to the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas as manager.
Man Utd assistant manager Mike Phelan recently admitted that the Red Devils were monitoring the £20million-rated forward, while Liverpool's interest dates back to before he joined Sporting from Utrecht last summer.
Earlier this month, Van Wolfswinkel admitted that a move to the Premier League was of interest to him, but his agent has revealed that Sporting are set to try and prevent a summer move from happening.
"Ricky is really appreciated", Louis Laros was quoted by Inside Futbol as saying.
"Ricky is followed by quite a few clubs, but there is no transfer arranged.
"Sporting want to upgrade his contract and that is certainly worth negotiating about."
