Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Middlesbrough defender Rhys Williams.

The 23-year-old has alerted clubs after contract talks at the Riverside Stadium hit a brick wall.

And according to the Daily Mail, that has raised eyebrows with the Merseysiders, as well as Bolton.

"I've tried hard for the last three years to help get Middlesbrough back in the Premier League and hopefully this season will be the one," said Williams.

"If not, I have to seriously look around and I've spoken to the manager about that."
