Liverpool have been told by Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray that defender Rhys Williams is not for sale.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent weeks, with Bolton and West Brom also thought to be showing interest.
But Mowbray insists the Australian is settled on Teesside and has no plans to let him leaving during this month's transfer window.
"I'm pretty sure that anyone we don't want to lose won't be leaving," the Boro boss told reporters.
"Rhys Williams is not out of contract and talking to him the boy's pretty comfortable here so I don't see that being an issue.
"He wants to try and help us get back to the Premier League."
Williams last week said he was "more than happy at Middlesbrough."
