Liverpool will hold a press conference at 10am when former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp will be unveiled as the club’s new manager.

48-year-old Klopp was in charge of Dortmund for seven years before leaving in the summer, having begun his coaching career at Mainz, where he spent the whole of his playing career.

He led Mainz into the top-flight of German football for the first time in their history in 2004 and also helped them qualify for the UEFA Cup, before heading to the Westfalenstadion in the summer of 2008.

His time in charge in Dortmund saw the club emerge as the main challengers to Bayern Munich’s domestic supremacy, with Klopp leading his side to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, while they completed the double by claiming the DFB-Pokal in the second of those years.

He also took BVB all the way to the Champions League final in 2013, only for his team to be beaten 2-1 by Bayern in the Wembley showpiece.
Klopp will succeed Brendan Rodgers who was axed last Sunday in the wake of the 1-1 draw at Everton.

Rodgers had been in charge at Anfield since June 2012 after enjoying a successful spell at Swansea City and guided the Reds to seventh in the Premier League table in 2012/13 and then to second in the following campaign when they scored 101 goals and collected 84 points.

However, last season Liverpool finished sixth and they have only secured 12 points from the opening eight games this term.

Klopp, who has agreed a three-year deal, will take charge of the Merseysiders for the first time on October 17th away to Tottenham Hotspur.
