Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has told the club he wants three new signings next week, with Samir Nasri top of his shopping list.
Mancini has already signed Sergio Aguero, Gael Clichy and Stefan Savic this summer, but has missed out on several other targets.
A £20million deal for Nasri is believed to be on the cards (see below), while Inter Milan duo Maicon and Samuel Eto'o have also been linked with moves to Eastlands.
Other names on Mancini's shopping list include Fiorentina’s Alessio Cerci, and with a week to go until the new Premier League season kicks off, the Italian is keen to ensure he has a squad capable of competing with the likes of rivals Manchester United.
"We need two or three more players," said Mancini. "Look at United, they have 29 senior players and we have about 20.
"When you are playing in the Champions League for the first time it is very hard. It is totally different from the Europa League. You need to change five, six or even seven players after a Champions League game.
"Tottenham struggled with this last season and we don’t want the same problem. We have another 10 days or so to close deals on other players."
Mancini on Friday said striker Carlos Tevez, who wants to quit the club, will return to training next week.
