Arsenal captain Robin van Persie will not leave the club this summer, according to team-mate Mikel Arteta.
Van Persie has less than eighteen months left on his existing contract at Emirates Stadium but insists there is no rush to discuss a new deal, despite continued speculation that he will leave the club this summer.
The 28-year-old, who is believed to be a target for the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, along with AC Milan and Manchester City, said last weekend that there was "nothing complicated or sinister" about his situation at the north London club.
And despite the speculation, Arteta believes the Netherlands international will still be an Arsenal player when the summer transfer window closes at the end of August.
"I do not see Van Persie leaving Arsenal," he told COM Radio.
"He is completely unaffected by interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona and not thinking about his contract renewal either.
"Now he is very calm and is not nervous about anything. I know he has said that in the summer he will consider things, talk it over and take the decision that he will take."
