French Open 2013 day 11 preview - Djokovic, Nadal, Sharapova all in action today

The quarter-finals of the 2013 French Open continue today, with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova all in action.

First up on court will be second seed Sharapova, who takes on former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic for a place in the semi-finals at Roland Garros.

Sharapova is the form player of the tournament, having yet to drop a set and continuing her good run against USA's Sloane Stephens in the fourth round. Before that, Jie Zheng, Eugenie Bouchard and Su-Wei Hsieh all met with the same fate against the Russian - a straight sets defeat.

In the men's singles, top seed Djokovic will take on Tommy Haas. Djokovic dropped his first set this French Open against Philipp Kohlschreiber in the previous round, but that followed easy wins against likes of Grigor Dimitrov, Guido Pella and David Goffin in the previous rounds.

Djokovic’s record against Haas isn't exemplary though. He has won six and lost three of their clashes including one earlier this year at the Miami Masters. Still Djokovic shouldn't have too many problems going through to the last-four stage.

And if Djokovic does get to the semi-final he could face Nadal, who plays 9th Stanislas Wawrinka in their quarter-final match later today. Nadal has never lost to Wawrinka in nine previous meetings, interestingly, not even a set and after a sluggish start in the competition the Spaniard has come into his own in the last couple of matches.

In the only other singles match of the day, third seed Victoria Azarenka will be up against 12th seeded Maria Kirilenko for a place in the semi-final.
