Previews the upcoming match between Rafael Nadal and Rik De Voest at ATP Indian Wells on Saturday March 12th.
Rafael Nadal will start his 2011 Indian Wells campaign on Saturday as he faces Rik de Voest of South Africa in the second round. De Voest is a player currently ranked 162nd on tour and he is very unlikely to trouble the current world number 1.
The two players have never met before despite the fact that both players are now veterans on tour. De Voest, who turned pro way back in 1999, has never been ranked in the top 100 as his career high ranking is from August 2006 when he peaked at world number 110.
De Voest is not usually able to get into tournaments of the magnitude of Indian Wells and he has to be delighted in the fact that he's qualified for the Masters event and actually won a match in the main draw.
However in his last tournament he lost to Jack Sock in straight sets, an 18 year old who promises to make strides in the next year but one that was ranked just 684th when he faced De Voest.
Anything but a straight sets victory for Nadal would be shocking against De Voest as the world number one is surely a lock to win this match.
They are scheduled as the fourth match in Stadium 1 on Saturday with the stadium start time at 11am PT.
