Nadia Petrova takes on Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez today in the second round of the 2012 KDB Korea Open in Seoul (08:20 BST start).
Fourth seed Petrova booked her place in the second round of the Korea Open on Wednesday, beating Lourdes Dominguez Lino 6-2 6-4 in one hour and 44 minutes. The Russian fired home nine aces during the contest and wasn't broken once, despite facing five break points.
Petrova will now take on another Spaniard, Martinez Sanchez, for a place in the quarter-finals.
Martinez Sanchez is the defending champion this week. There isn't a lot of expectation surrounding her campaign, though she made an encouraging start by beating Eleni Daniilidou 6-2 6-3.
Martinez Sanchez beat Petrova on clay in Rome in 2009 in the only previous meeting between the pairing. On the deco turf courts here Petrova seems likely to have the edge, but it's far too early to write off the 2011 Korea Open champion.
Prediction: Petrova in three.
