WWE and Brock Lesnar are in talks about him returning to the company - as soon as this Sunday at WrestleMania 28.
The Rock vs. John Cena headlines WrestleMania 28 in Miami, Florida, and according to the Wrestling Observer, both Lesnar and WWE have been in talks for several weeks about him making an appearance.
The development comes after The Rock was questioned about facing Lesnar at WrestleMania 29 on April 7th, 2013 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
This past week, Rock - who has already confirmed he will be at next year's show - was asked about Lesnar and a possible main event bout.
"I’m not saying a thing," he grinned during an interview. "I didn’t say anything."
Lesnar announced his retirement from the UFC at the end of 2011 following a first round defeat to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141, sparking talk of a return to the WWE.
The 34-year-old has had little to say about his his plans for the future after announcing his retirement, which came after it emerged that he had the option to return to WWE for a WrestleMania payday - something that was almost certainly never going to happen while he was still an active UFC fighter.
A return in time for this weekend's show in Miami was always thought to be unlikely given that WWE had agreed last year to bring back The Rock as their focal point for promotion.
But having him show up in Miami to promote a fight for in twelve months time - or possibly as soon as this summer at Summerslam - now appears to be a possibility, especially as UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Lesnar is legally able to appear at WrestleMania.
According to Friday's report, White is unaware if Lesnar will be at Sunday's show.
The development comes following speculation that WWE could look to announce the main event for WrestleMania 29 as soon as next week.
Right now, it appears that the main event could be announced on Sunday night....
