Former MLB All-Star Ender Inciarte will be staying in New York after signing a minor league contract with the Mets.
The 31-year-old Venezuelan outfielder spent the first portion of the season with the New York Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate but was let go last week. The Mets have yet to confirm the deal which will earn Inciarte $1.1 million if he makes it to the Majors.
Inciarte bagged the Golden Glove Award three times in his career and was named an All-Star in 2017 as a member of the Atlanta Braves. Last season, he posted a superb batting average of .215 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 89 plate appearances.
He has yet to make it to the major leagues this season after inking a minor league contract with the Yankees in the offseason. In his time in the minors, Inciarte registered a slash line of .252/.336/.408 with four home runs and stolen bases apiece through 116 trips to the plate.
