Dominican utility man Danny Santana has agreed to a minor league deal with the Boston Red Sox.
The 31-year-old Santana, who appeared in 38 games last season wherein he posted a slash line of .181/.252/.345 in 127 plate appearances, will be heading to the team’s spring facility in Fort Myers.
He will eventually be joining the Red Sox’s Triple-A affiliate in Worcester. Santana has yet to appear in the majors this season as he has been serving an 80-game suspension following a positive PED use.
It has been an up and down career for Santana who came into the scene in 2014 with the Minnesota Twins.
Santana’s best season came during his rookie year when he posted an impressive slash line of .319/.353/.472 in 430 plate appearances in addition to seven homers, 27 doubles, and seven triples.
Since leaving the Twins in 2017, Santana has also appeared for the Atlanta Braves and the Texas Rangers.
