Rodriguez on Tigers’ restricted list due to personal matters

The Detroit Tigers will be without starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez for the anticipatable future.

This is after the 29-year-old told the Tigers that he isn’t coming back to the team due to personal reasons. Rodriguez has been placed on the restricted list.

“Eduardo Rodriguez has informed the club that due to personal matters, he will not rejoin the team at this time. As a result, Eduardo has been placed on the restricted list until further notice,” general manager Al Avila said in a press statement.

Rodriguez has been sidelined for nearly a month after suffering a left rib cage strain in his May 18 start against the Tampa Bay Rays. He seemed ready for a return after recording four scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in a rehab start at Triple-A Toledo last Thursday.

The Venezuelan is among the several Tigers from the season-opening rotation who are currently unavailable. Other players that are out in the Tigers lineup are Casey Mize, Matt Manning, and Michael Pineda.
