Dominican offensive duo Juan Soto and Victor Robles homered as the Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves 7-3 to end a nine-game losing streak.
The 23-year-old Soto, who hails from the Dominican Republic, registered a solo shot in the eighth inning to extend his on-base streak to a career-high 26 games.
It was the first time for the Nationals to score five runs in a game since an 8-7 loss to Pittsburgh on June 29.
The Nationals put up a sterling performance in the second as Ehire Adrianza lined a two-run single to center before Robles homered to take a precarious 4-3 lead.
Adrianza also added an RBI groundout in the fourth against Spencer Strider, who gave up five runs in four innings while striking out four. Maikel Franco‘s RBI in the sixth sealed the game for the Nationals, who currently hold a league-worst record of 31-63 (win-loss).
Washington hopes to continue its winning ways as it takes its act at Arizona when it begins a three-game series against the Diamondbacks on Friday.
