Caleb Swanigan tragically passes away aged 25

Former NBA player and Purdue star Caleb Swanigan passed away on June 21st at the age of 25. The young prospect suffered from mental and weight issues throughout the past couple of years and is believed to have died due to natural causes.

Swanigan proved to be a really strong individual that had the potential to overcome numerous mental obstacles. His fairytale began in 2015 when he was recruited by Purdue to play in the NCAA. It didn’t take long for the creative power forward to make his breakthrough as he was given 5-star ratings by several notorious sports publishing companies like Scout, Rivals, and 247Sports.

In the 2017 NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers drafted him with the 26th overall pick. His NBA career was short-lived as he spent just 2 years in Portland before getting traded to Sacramento where he took part in just 10 matches over two seasons.

After retiring from the NBA, he showed signs of depression and gained a lot of weight. He will forever remain one of the brightest prospects in Purdue’s history who didn’t have the chance to prove himself in the toughest basketball leagues of them all. The NBA has come together to celebrate the former player’s life that was tragically stolen from him.
