Collin Sexton remains optimistic about playoffs

Basketball is a dynamic entity that is constantly moving through players and teams, with new names rising and old greats falling by the wayside. One of the former is the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team which has had something of a breakout season. They occupy the number three slot in terms of best defense in the NBA as well as the third most impressive record from the Eastern Conference (30-19).

It might be tempting to tie this success with the team’s arguably most impressive player, Collin Sexton, but the most surprising part of this rags-to-riches tale is that they have done it largely without Sexton. The player was injured after only 11 games with a torn meniscus which resulted in surgery serious enough to end his season. That doesn’t mean that we have heard the last of him, however.

Will Sexton return for the playoffs?

While his presence seems somewhat unlikely and insiders do not expect him to play, Sexton insists that he might be back in the game for the playoffs. The player is proud of his team, already counting them as a sure bet for the postseason and is on the road to recovery both physically and mentally. The 23-year-old had this to say about his attendance at the playoffs: “We will see. Definitely will see.”

While this might not be the most loquacious statement we have heard, the player is working hard to return to the court. While insiders are not predicting a heroic return, they are also not counting him out just yet.

Before his injury, Sexton averaged 3.3 rebounds, 16.0 points, 0.9 steals and 2.1 assists per game. Last season was a career-high for him, and we are interested to see what is next.

What do you think about Sexton’s optimism?
