Deandre Ayton Looks for a Way Out

Published on

Following this year’s early exit from the Playoffs, the 23-year-old center of the Phoenix Suns Deandre Ayton raised some questions concerning his future. He has been part of the ongoing rebuilding of the Western Conference team since he was selected in the 2018 NBA Draft with the first pick. Since being drafted he has helped the Suns reach their first NBA Finals since the 1992/93 season along with his superstar teammate Devin Booker. The team topped the standings in the Regular Season in 2022, but they failed to transfer this performance into the Playoffs after being eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks.

In his own right, Deandre Ayton can be disappointed with the management’s attitude toward him. He got only 17 minutes of playing time in Game 7 against the Mavericks which raised even more concerns for the young star. It seems that the Suns are looking to make a trade move which will include Ayton. Ayton might also benefit from such a deal as he can find a new home to develop his game. So far, teams like the Charlotte Hornets and the Atlanta Hawks are favorites to sign the athletic center. All in all, his time in Phoenix is likely limited as he will sooner or later part ways with the 2021 NBA finalists.
