Hornets pick Kenny Atkinson as new head coach

The Charlotte Hornets have hired Warriors’ assistant coach Kenny Atkinson as their new head coach. After a wild search for the right person to come in charge of the Hornets, the team’s owner, Michael Jordan, saw in Atkinson the perfect fit for his star player LaMelo Ball. The 20-year-old prospect has been in the NBA since 2020 and only misfortune stayed between him and the Playoffs.

Kenny Atkinson was consecutively part of the Nets, Clippers, and then the Warriors and he should know how to build a team around LaMelo Ball. The 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year is a fantastic playmaker, showing high versatility and incredible offensive skills. He can surely lead a team in the NBA, if he gets matched up with the right coach who can develop him as a player and the right teammates to surround him, thus unleashing his potential.

With the likes of LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward, and Miles Bridges, the Hornets’ chances of making the Playoffs next season are quite high. They are also still looking for their first Postseason win since 2001-02, where they managed to defeat the Magic in 4 games before losing to the Nets in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
