“Hustle” star Hernangomez goes to Toronto

Published on

After being featured in several trades across the last NBA season, “Hustle” star Juancho Hernangomez finally signed a one-year contract with the 2019 champions from Toronto. The Spanish power forward switched three teams last season as he was part of the Boston Celtics, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Utah Jazz.

The 26-year-old became well-known within the basketball community following his appearance on the American sports drama film “Hustle”. He portrays a rough and talented player who needs to work extra hours to provide money for his family. Noticed by an NBA scout, he gets a chance to prove himself at several trials and exhibition games.

In reality, Hernangomez began his NBA career back in 2016 with the Denver Nuggets. Shortly after, the young power forward started racking up minutes for his team in the Regular Season as he also got the chance to experience the Playoffs in 2019. It seems that his most notable performance came during his spell in Minnesota averaging 12.9 points and 7.3 rebounds across 14 appearances in the 2019/20 NBA season.

Hernangomez has already shown versatile skills in defense as he will be a great asset for the Raptors pairing with Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet.
