Leones beat Mets in BSN
Court general Jezreel de Jesus paced the Leones with 20 points, two rebounds, and three assists in 25 minutes of play while Luis Lopez and Mike Rosario scored the team 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Ponce started the game strong, taking a 25-18 first quarter lead thanks to crucial baskets from Lopez and reinforcement Marvin Jones.
That dominance extended in the second as the Leones clawed the Mets with a 10-0 run to head into the break with a 51-38 lead.
However, the Mets put together a massive run in the final canto outscoring the Leones behind Kyle Vinales who exploded for 15 fourth quarter points to keep the road team within striking distance.
But it proved too little and too late as Rosario and Jones punctuated a mini 5-0 run with a three-pointer and a dunk to take a 93-92 lead.
Guaynabo had a chance to win the game but Kevin Young’s three-point attempt failed to hit the mark. Vinales led the Mets with 31 points and four assists while reinforcement Ben Moore added 19 points and nine rebounds, respectively.
