Charlotte Hornets’ owner Michael Jordan will have to make a lot of changes within his team in order to make it a bigger contender for the Playoffs. He started off by firing the current head coach James Borrego who spent 4 years in Charlotte. It took him quite some time to form a decent roster, but the team went on missing the playoffs by the slimmest of margins. However, with players like LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward, and Miles Bridges, the future is bright.
Michael Jordan perfectly understands the situation, and after seeing the unravelling opportunity, he took matters into his own hands. His top choice for the vacant position seems to be Mike D’Antoni, who was part of the Houston Rockets during their best years in the Modern Era (2016-2020). The Italian-American led his team to their best regular season with a 65-17 record, but the Warriors were always on their path to yet another NBA title. D’Antoni is thought to compete with Kenny Atkinson for the Hornets’ head coaching job, but the latter’s chances seem slim to none so far. Michael Jordan will meet D’Antoni later this week in an attempt to get this prominent name to Charlotte.
