Paolo Banchero shut down by the Magic

Published on

The first overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, Paolo Banchero, has been sidelined by the Orlando Magic for the remainder of the Summer League. The 19-year-old power forward has been a valuable asset throughout his first two appearances in Las Vegas as he averaged 20 points, five rebounds, and six assists. This was more than enough for the Eastern Conference team to make their statement in regards to his future.

The Magic would like to use the Summer League as an opportunity to give its players more playing time so that they can prove themselves and show their potential. Orlando has been struggling lately in the NBA as they are seeking their first Playoffs series win since 2009/10 when they reached the Conference Finals and lost to the Celtics in six games.

Banchero is undoubtedly a remarkable talent who can achieve unparalleled success, but he will need to make a smooth transition from the NCAA into the NBA. The young prospect has already dropped us a hint at his high potential as he managed to withstand the pressure across his first official minutes among the best.
