Quebradillas and Mets both notch important wins in BSN

Strong start for Quebradillas and Mets

Piratas de Quebradillas and Mets de Guaynabo kept their composure under tremendous pressure as they beat separate opponents on Sunday in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional.

Sharpshooting guard Phillip Wheeler exploded for 27 points in 35 minutes of play while forward Carlos Emory added 24 to help Quebradillas beat Indios de Mayaguez 90-83 in the Palace of Recreation and Sports of the Sultana del Oeste.

With the victory, Quebradillas solidified the top spot of the Section A standings with a 6-1 (win-loss) record while Mayaguez who, despite 22 points and 12 rebounds from American reinforcement Terrence Jones, stayed winless after six games.

On the other hand, Mets de Guaynabo relied on the offensive explosion of Tyquan Rolon and Ben Moore to escape Brujos de Guayama 85-80 in the Mario Quijote Morales Coliseum.

Rolon paced the offensive attack for Guaynabo with 28 points while Moore contributed with a double-double of 22 and 19 boards. Both Guaynabo and Guayama now hold a 2-3 record.
