Cuban national team player Ysmael Romero will be staying in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) after signing a contract extension with the Vaqueros Bayamon Cowboys this week.
The 30-year old center’s new contract will run until 2025. He has been with the Cowboys since 2017, helping them win the 2020 BSN championship.
“Today is a great day for our cowboy franchise. After several months working and talking, the Ysmael Romero contract extension was achieved,” said Bayamon general manager Wilfredo Pagan.
Pagan further added that Romero will be a critical piece for the team’s championship aspirations. The 6’9” center is currently having a solid season, averaging 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
Romero said that he is grateful to play with the Cowboys and hopes to help the team win more titles in the coming years.
“Being a part of the history of the most winning franchise will always be incredible. I am grateful for the opportunity. I look forward to helping continue making history with the Cowboys,” Romero said in a press statement.
