Trade Alert: Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks

San Antonio has just made a risky move concerning its rebuilding process. The Spurs have traded their All-Star guard, Dejounte Murray, to the Atlanta Hawks for Danilo Gallinari, three first-round picks, and a potential future swap.

Dejounte Murray was selected by San Antonio in the 2016 NBA Draft and has been part of a long process that will eventually see the Spurs back among the best teams in the League. The 25-year-old point guard impressed the NBA with an All-Star-worthy performance last season which made him an attractive catch for many teams.

The Hawks, on the other hand, will highly benefit from this trade as Murray will be able to provide Trae Young with much-needed help in the offence. Although they risk their future by trading away first-round picks, this should be considered the right decision allowing them to unleash their All-Stars’ huge potential.

The Spurs shouldn’t be a factor in the upcoming season or two as they have taken their feet off the gas with that trade. Getting the 33-year-old Danilo Gallinari won’t help the process much as the Italian is in his last years in the NBA.
