Gary Payton II sadly had to leave last night’s game early after a hard foul from Dillon Brooks which was called a flagrant. This has been a big blow to the Golden State team as GP2 had been a huge asset from off of the bench so far in the playoffs and the 2021/22 season. Payton had been putting good numbers as a role player as he had been putting up 6.1 points per game, 3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
The verdict has been released on how severe GP2’s injury was and it has been announced that unfortunately he has suffered a fractured elbow. There is no telling how long Payton will be out for, but one can hope that he has a speedy recovery.
Many fans want to see Dillon Brooks punished for this foul and Steve Kerr, Warriors coach said that Brooks “had broken the code” with this foul. People were expecting a physical series between the two western conference teams but nobody wanted to see any of the NBA stars get injured.
