Steve Kerr: A Legendary Career as Coach and Player

Despite the fact that Steve Kerr wasn’t a household name whilst playing in the NBA, he definitely has established himself as one of the greatest coaches in basketball history and made his presence known throughout the American populace. The talented guard helped Michael Jordan in his second three-peat, winning the titles between 1996 and 1998. He went on to win his 4th and 5th NBA Championship with the San Antonio Spurs in the years ahead before putting his sneakers to rest. After retiring, he took some time off the court to focus on commentating before returning as a head coach to the Golden State Warriors in 2014.

With the Warriors, Kerr built one of the most offensively focused teams in NBA history based on his experiences with Phil Jackson’s Bulls squad. Kerr in his prime was a deadly three-point shooter and still holds the record for the highest career three-point field goal percentage at 45.4%. His three-centric style of basketball definitely translated into his coaching of the Warriors and he changed the game entirely as the Warriors started exploiting the 3-point line, thus revolutionizing basketball and making other teams follow suit. With help from Steph Curry, Kerr became one of the most decorated coaches in the NBA. The team has already won 4 titles as the talented coach set even higher expectations for the upcoming years. His desire to break records is unparalleled which is the main thing telling him apart from the rest in the NBA.

After Golden State’s recent championship win against the Celtics, Kerr now has 9 NBA rings that he can be proud of and we are sure that Kerr has plans to add more in the upcoming years.
