England’s Women’s cricket team has welcomed a new addition to their coaching staff, with Courtney Winfield-Hill appointed as an assistant coach for the upcoming tour to South Africa and the prestigious 2025 Women’s Ashes series. Her recent appointment reflects a significant step in England Women’s Cricket as they gear up for challenging international competitions.

Winfield-Hill’s coaching credentials are well-established within women’s cricket circuits. She is currently associated with the Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), having played a pivotal role in its recent campaigns. Her influence was further extended during her time with Trent Rockets in the Women’s Hundred over the summer.

However, her coaching journey did not just flourish in leagues. She also served as the assistant coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League and undertook essential roles with the England Women’s A and U19 teams. These roles complement her experience as a regional academy coach for Northern Diamonds, where she has contributed to the development of young cricketing talents.

As a player, Winfield-Hill boasts a robust career, having been a fast bowler for the Queensland Fire and the Brisbane Heat in her native Australia. However, her athletic prowess is not limited to the cricket pitch. In 2019, she led the Leeds Rhinos to a Grand Final and Challenge Cup double in rugby league and represented England in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup after moving to England in 2018.

Winfield-Hill has expressed her excitement and honor upon joining the coaching staff of England Women’s Cricket, stating her eagerness to contribute her learning experiences to the forthcoming series with South Africa and the Ashes. Her enthusiasm for these series reflects her passion and commitment to the sport and the development of the team.

Jonathan Finch, the Director of England Women’s Cricket, echoed this sentiment by commending Winfield-Hill’s expertise in nurturing young talent on the international pathway. He praised her ability to contribute positively to any coaching environment she is part of, underlining the value she brings to the table.

As the England Women’s Cricket Team prepares for the tour to South Africa and the subsequent Ashes series, the addition of Courtney Winfield-Hill to their coaching staff is a strategic move that promises to bolster the team’s competitive edge and expertise. Her multifaceted sports career, paired with her coaching dexterity, positions her as a valuable asset to the team’s aspirations on the global cricketing stage.
