PDC Gibraltar Darts – Live Stream, Day Two schedule of play and PDC Gibraltar Darts Trophy Preview

The top 16 seeds enter the fray at the Gibraltar Trophy today, as the season’s fifth European Tour event springs to life on The Rock.

Saturday’s Gibraltar Darts matches are scheduled to start at 12:00 BST, with the evening session starting at 16:30 BST.

Preview:

The opening round saw the majority of big names safely progress amid some high quality performances, now the 16 qualifiers must replicate that form against an array of top stars.

Reigning champion Phil Taylor begins the defence of his title against Michael Smith in the pick of the last 32 ties.

Taylor was famously stunned by Smith in round two at Alexandra Palace last December, but has since exerted his revenge in a previous European Tour event.

The duo collide once again in a mouth-watering clash of youth versus experience, with Taylor aiming to lay down the lay to the 23-year-old rising star.

World champion – Michael van Gerwen – meanwhile, takes on fellow Dutchman Benito van de Pas in a match which has the makings of a close-run classic on current form.

Van Gerwen returns to action after being forced to withdraw from last weekend’s Austrian Open through injury and looks to get back to winning ways with immediate effect.

PDC newcomer van de Pas averaged 105 in his opening round whitewash of Antonio Alcinas on Friday, with the 21-year-old having enjoyed a superb start to life in the PDC.

The evening session also sees the arrival of Gary Anderson, as he aims to avenge last weekend’s early exit in Salzburg by seeing off home hero Dyson Parody.

Parody is Gibraltar’s final remaining hope in the competition, but will enter the match full of confidence after storming to a 6-0 whitewash of Hendry Zapata with a high checkout of 152 last night.

Another heavy-weight tussle sees two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis take on the resurgent Dean Winstanley.

Lewis heads to The Rock fit and firing after opting out of the trip to Salzburg a week ago, but begins with a tough test against the in-form Yorkshireman – who whitewashed local qualifier Manuel Vilerio 6-0 late last night.

Australian ace Simon Whitlock runs into Kevin Painter in a repeat of their World Championship clash, with both boasting an impressive spell of form in recent weeks.

Seven-time major winner James Wade faces the tenacious Andy Hamilton in another closely-matched contest, while Northern Ireland’s Brendan Dolan hosts Belgian youngster Dimitri van den Bergh – conqueror of Mark Webster on opening night.

Dolan’s fellow countryman Daryl Gurney was emphatic on his debut as he whitewashed Antony Lopez 6-0 with a 104 average, and the heavy-scoring star now bids to replicate that ruthless form against Scottish star Robert Thornton.

Premier League wildcard Wes Newton opens up the afternoon session with a tough battle against Stoke veteran Ian White, as the methodical Justin Pipe aims to hit back to form when he faces debutant Pete Dyos.

World finalist Peter Wright is the star attraction in the afternoon as he hosts Swindon’s Johnny Haines, with World Grand Prix finalist Dave Chisnall taking on former World Youth champion – James Hubbard.

Last Sunday’s Austrian Open runner-up – Jamie Caven – opens up his latest campaign against highland thrower John Henderson, while former Lakeside winner Steve Beaton meets Andy Parsons.

Belgian star Kim Huybrechts takes on Germany’s Jyhan Artut, while Mervyn King aims to avert a banana skin against dangerous youngster – Adam Hunt.

The action gets underway from 11am BST for the afternoon session, with the evening session commencing at 4.30pm at the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar.
