The Voice UK returns to TV screens this weekend, with the 2015 edition of the BBC singing competition kicking off on Saturday night at 7pm. Rita Ora has joined the line-up for the 2015 series of The Voice, and the 24-year-old says she turned down a judging role on X Factor so she could join the BBC show. “The respect levels for this show are really high,” Ora told The Sun. “It is well received and respected by other artists. That is why I joined, because I really respected the format and how it musically connected to the contestants. “I don’t know how X Factor works, I was only there as a guest judge for a day. But I watched The Voice a lot, I respected how it came across on TV and I love the freedom we get as coaches to do what we want.” Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Ricky Wilson all return for the new series of The Voice UK, which returns to BBC One on Saturday, January 10th at 7pm. Speaking at the show’s launch, Wilson revealed that he is still in touch with all of the acts from his team last year. “I think they’re all having a better time than they were before they went on the show and that’s a testament to the show itself really,” he said. “It might not be churning out superstars to bridge the gap until the next series, but I think that’s a good thing. “I think over the next few years, you’ll start seeing people bringing out records and having hits that you’ll go, ‘Where have I seen them before? Oh, they were on The Voice’. When they’re on Graham Norton and he goes, ‘Do you remember this?’ he’ll show a clip of The Voice.”
