Cash-rich IEM Rio Major 2022 set for October in Rio de Janeiro

IEM Rio Major 2022 scheduled later this year

At least $1 million will be at stake when the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Rio Major 2022 tournament fires off this October 31 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Organized by ESL Gaming, the tournament comes on the heels of the success of PGL’s maiden CS: GO Major of 2022, which recorded a peak viewership of over 2.1 million.

“The ever-growing and passionate Brazilian esports community is amazing and for the past couple of years, we have been hoping to provide the fans with one of the greatest esports experiences ever,” said Ulrich Schulze, SVP of Product Management at ESL Gaming.

It can be recalled that ESL Gaming’s entrance in the Brazilian Esports scene was halted following the cancellation of ESL One Rio Major 2020 due to the pandemic.

“Now the time is finally here and we can’t wait for the world’s best CS:GO teams to ultimately enter the Jeunesse Arena and have it shake to its foundations from the excitement from Brazil and beyond,” Schulze added.

The tournament, which will have an in-person audience for its final stage, has already started selling tickets online.
