Australian Grand Prix to remain on the F1 calendar until 2035

The Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2035 after a new long-term deal was agreed.

The existing contract was due to expire at the end of 2025, but this has now been extended for a further 10 years.

The race at Melbourne’s Albert Park has been on the calendar since 1996 and has been a continued success for the city and the state of Victoria.

After a three-year sabbatical caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the race returned to the schedule this year with more than 419,000 spectators attending the event over the weekend. This was the largest sporting crowd in Australian history and demonstrated the passion that the sport has in the country.

As part of the new deal, the organisers are planning to make improvements to the venue, including an upgrade to the paddock and pit facilities.

Despite facing rival bids from other venues in Australia, including an event in Sydney, Melbourne secured the deal due to its proven success and the commercial terms they offered.
