Red Bull reserve driver Juri Vips suspended after using racist slur

Red Bull have announced that they have suspended reserve and test driver Juri Vips after he used offensive language during an online gaming stream.

In a statement, the team confirmed the suspension comes into “immediate effect, pending a full investigation into the incident”.

They went on to add: “We condemn abuse of any kind and have a zero-tolerance policy to racist language or behaviour within our organisation.”

Vips later posted an apology on his Instagram account saying: “”I deeply regret my actions and this is not the example I wish to set. I will cooperate with the investigation fully.”

The Estonian driver currently competes in Formula 2 with Hitech Grand Prix and is seventh in the 2022 championship standings. He joined the Red Bull Junior Team in 2018 and had his first taste of F1 action when he took part in the first practice at this year’s Spanish Grand Prix.
