Panthers Appear To Be Running It Back With Sam Darnold

The Carolina Panthers were going to trade for Deshaun Watson, but they didn’t. They were going to select Kenny Pickett or Malik Willis in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Instead, the Carolina Reapers picked project quarterback Matt Corral in the third.

After months of rumours and speculation, it appears that the Carolina Panthers are running it back with quarterback Sam Darnold in 2022. The fact that Darnold is returning is a bit awkward, given that the Panthers have expressed interest in having anybody but him under centre next year. Though Corral could win the starting job in training camp, few NFL experts view the Mississippi product as a week one starter.

“I think what Sam’s been through this offseason is hard,” Panthers Head Coach Matt Rhule said on the team’s official website. “Your back’s against the wall, everyone’s kind of questioning can you do this or not…I think Sam has to have confidence in himself, his ability to work through and grind and develop, and at the same time, identify things he has to improve on.”

The Carolina Panthers are set to open their preseason against the Washington Commanders on August 13th. Fans are eager to see what the team can bring!
