Juventus wins race for Bremer

Published on

After weeks of speculation, it’s Juventus who have landed Brazilian centre back Gleison Bremer.

Formerly of Torino, Bremer makes the short trip across the city to join the Italian giants. According to reports he has signed a contract for five years.

It was long expected that Inter Milan would land the recently crowned Serie A Defender of the Year, but a lack of funds saw Bremer’s attentions turn elsewhere.

Juventus acted swiftly to reinforce their back line following the departure of Dutch centre-back Matthias De Light to Bayern Munich.

Juve fended off interest from the Premier League duo of Tottenham and Chelsea and snapped up their man for a fee of €40 million. The fee could rise to €47 million if certain add-ons are met.

In Bremer, Juve have landed a defender that knows Serie A like the back of his hand. They have also landed a player who will be incredibly hungry, as he hasn’t yet made an appearance in the Champions League. He will also be looking to muscle his way into the Brazilian national team ahead of this year’s World Cup.

He is yet to win a cap for the Brazilian senior side but will be hoping this move to one of the biggest clubs in the world will help boost his prospects of a call up.
