Manchester United and Arsenal to step up Lisandro Martinez interest

Today is officially the start of pre-season with the majority of Premier League clubs starting their preparation for the new season which starts in just under five weeks’ time.

With the majority of the Premier League set to jet all over the world, clubs will want their business done early so that any new players can quickly become acclimatized.

One player who is expected to move to the Premier League this week is Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine defender is wanted by both Manchester United and Arsenal and are expected to table bids this week.

According to reports, Martinez has already expressed his desire to the Ajax hierarchy that he intends to leave Holland for the Premier League. Ajax won’t stand in his way to leave but will only accept offers of around £40 million.

It’s believed that it’s United who have the edge with new boss Erik Ten Hag keen to reunite with a player he clearly admires. However, Arsenal really wants to bring Martinez to the Emirates and see him as the perfect defensive signing as he can play in so many different positions.

As two English giants battle it out for Martinez it will be fascinating to see which club he chooses.
