Manchester United’s deal for Antony is set to go down to the wire

Published on

It’s been a testing transfer window for fans of Manchester United. Despite the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen, Utd have been left frustrated by the inability to get the combo of Frenkie De Jong and Anthony through the Old Trafford door.

Despite being keen to follow his former boss to Manchester, Ajax have held firm throughout the summer that Antony is not for sale. However, according to reports in Holland, it’s believed that a bid of around €69 million might now change that stance.

Erik Ten Haag wants to add more quality to his front line and have greater options to rotate with. With the future of Cristiano Ronaldo looking unclear, Antony would be a welcome addition.

Offering trickery and guile, the Brazilian would bring a different option to Utd’s attack. He scored twelve goals in all competitions last season and at only 22 has his best years very much ahead of him.

With the Premier League season starting in less than two weeks, the pressure is on Utd to start fast. United need more firepower and they will be hoping Antony will be on hand to help provide it.
