Mike McCarthy’s Cowboys To Play In Green Bay

Published on

It will be a strange sort of homecoming.

On November 13th, head coach Mike McCarthy will return to Lambeau Field as his Dallas Cowboys take on the Green Bay Packers in a clash of two of the NFC’s most historic franchises.

McCarthy previously coached the Packers for 13 seasons from 2006 to 2018. Though he amassed an impressive 125-77-2 record, McCarthy drew criticism for only winning one Super Bowl, even though he had Aaron Rodgers, a shoo-in first-ballot hall of famer, leading his offence. McCarthy was fired by the Packers in 2018.

After sitting out the 2019 season, McCarthy signed with the Dallas Cowboys to replace Jason Garrett as head coach. The Cowboys were largely mediocre during Garrett’s tenure, and Cowboys leadership hoped that McCarthy could better utilise the team’s young offensive stars, such as quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott. Though the Cowboys won just six games in McCarthy’s first season at the helm, they bounced back in 2021, winning 12 games and the NFC East before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs.

NFL fans can catch the Packers and Cowboys at 4:25 PM ET on November 13th on FOX.
