Premier League Clubs on Red Alert as Luis Suarez’s River Plate Deal Falls Through

Premier League Clubs on Red Alert as Luis Suarez’s River Plate Deal Falls Through

Just a few weeks ago we highlighted that Luis Suarez was set to return to South America and sign with Argentinian side River Plate. That move now seems in serious doubt, which has put clubs across Europe on red alert that they might still be able to bring the Uruguayan veteran to their club.

Suarez’s move to River has fallen through, due to River being knocked out of the Copa Libertadores, a competition Suarez had high hopes of competing in and winning.

Before Suarez was linked to River, Premier League side Aston Villa were keen to bring the veteran striker to Villa Park. Current Villa boss Steven Gerrard has always spoken of his admiration for his former teammate and a link-up between these two former Liverpool greats could now be back on the cards.

Despite being 35, Suarez is still set to play a huge role for Uruguay at the upcoming World Cup. Suarez made 35 league appearances for Atletico Madrid last season, scoring 11 times.

With pre-season now stepping up and the new league season just a month away, Suarez and his suitors will want any deal to be concluded quickly.
