New York Yankees Fan Suing Espn For 10 Million

A New York Yankees fan who fell asleep during a baseball match is suing television broadcaster ESPN for $10 million for defamation of character after the commentators described him as being a “fatty cow”.

Yankees fan Andrew Rector achieved internet fame, or infamy, in April when a video of him sleeping at a Yankees v Boston Red Sox baseball match went viral.

Rector did not, however, see the funny side and has taken offence at being described as a “fatty cow that needs two seats at all times and represents a symbol of failure” by the ESPN announcers.

He is, in fact, so perturbed by the comments that he has chosen to sue the television network for $10 million over ‘defamation of character’.
