Stanton leads American League comeback against National League

New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton was the man among men on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

This is after the 32-year-old Stanton helped the American League (AL) All-Stars complete a 3-2 comeback victory against the National League (NL) All-Stars in the 2022 Midsummer Classic.

After a string of losses, the NL All-Stars seemed hell-bent to end the unfortunate trend as they raced off to an early 2-0 lead courtesy of Mookie Betts and Venezuelan star Ronald Acuña Jr.

However, it proved to be the team’s last hurrah as Stanton delivered a two-run homer off Dodgers righty Tony Gonsolin in the fourth inning to even things at 2-2.

“I can’t really explain how special this is. It’s hard to put into words that this is reality right now. It’s really cool. I’m soaking it all in,” said Stanton, who was recognized as the game’s Most Valuable Player.

Minnesota Twins’ center fielder Byron Buxton, the next batter, put the game to bed after hitting a 425-foot blast to extend the AL All-Stars’ winning streak to nine.

The MLB All-Star Game commenced with actor Denzel Washington leading a tribute to Jackie Robinson and Betts spearheading the crowd in wishing her a happy 100th birthday.
