Alex Rins signs two-year deal with LCR Honda from 2023 season

Departing Suzuki rider Alex Rins has signed a two-year contract with LCR Honda from the start of the 2023 MotoGP season.

Spaniard Rins found himself looking for a new team after Suzuki decided to quit MotoGP at the end of the 2022 season. After much speculation about his next move, he has now secured a seat for 2023 with the LCR team.

“I am very happy to be joining the LCR Honda team,” Rins said.

“Changing team and bike is a challenge but I am ready to give my 100% and to put into practice everything that I’ve learnt during my years in the MotoGP class.”

The 26-year-old will replace Alex Marquez, who will be moving to the Gresini Ducati team after two years with LCR.

Rins joined Suzuki in 2017 for his first season in MotoGP. During his career he has secured three race victories and had his best season in 2020, when he finished third in the championship. He currently sits ninth in this year’s standings with 75 points.

Rins’ current Suzuki team-mate Joan Mir is still looking for a new team, but it is believed that he will move to the factory Honda team to race alongside Marc Marquez.
