Bastianini takes victory at the French Grand Prix

Enea Bastianini won his third race of the MotoGP season as he took victory at the French Grand Prix in Le Mans.

The Italian started the race in fifth place but made a good start off the line to move himself into contention at the front. After working his way up to second, he soon found himself behind long-time leader Francesco Bagnaia. As Bastianini began to put pressure on his compatriot, he soon forced an error to move into first place.

Bagnaia, in an effort to retain the lead, soon crashed out leaving Bastianini on the Gresini Ducati with a comfortable race to the finish line. He finished ahead of Australian Jack Miller and Spain’s Aleix Espargaro.

Home favourites Fabio Quartararo and Johann Zarco were unable to find their way on to the podium and rounded out the top five.

Bastianini is currently third in the championship standings on 94 points, behind leader Quartararo (102 points) and Espargaro (98). His latest victory follows his wins at Austin and Qatar earlier in the season.
