Colombian teenage sensation David Alonso hopes to sustain its strong momentum as he makes his second Grand Prix appearance this weekend at the Grande Premio Tissot de Portugal.
The 15-year-old Alonso, who recorded six victories last year to grab the Red Bull Rookies MotoGP Cup, will be a part of the three-man strong Valresa GasGas Aspar Team that includes regulars Izan Guevara and Spanish daredevil Sergio Garcia.
This race will also serve as a warm-up for Alonso, who is set to compete in the 2022 JuniorGP World Championship in Estoril in two weeks.
“I am excited to be able to compete again in the World Championship. The good thing is that it’s not the first time, last year, I already did it in Misano, so I know what a race weekend is like. Also, for me, it will be the first race of the year, and it will serve as training for the FIM JuniorGP” said Alonso.
Alonso made his Grand Prix debut last year when he competed at the 2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
