World champion Quartararo expresses dismay with testing reduction

Yamaha daredevil Fabio Quartararo has expressed his displeasure with FIM’s rule of reducing the number of test days in MotoGP for the 2023 season.

It can be recalled that the FIM announced on Thursday that the testing for next season would be cut to eight official days across the year.

The new testing structure will include five days of running across a two and three-day test as well as two single-day post-race tests during the season and one at the end of the final round.

Quartararo said that the reduction would significantly impact how bikes will perform during race day.

“This year is the first time that we made two days in Malaysia [instead of three], and from my side, I think it was enough. But to take off one day at the end of the season, I don’t agree with that,” said Quartararo.

Suzuki’s Alex Rins and six-time world champion Marc Marquez have also voiced their concerns with the incoming MotoGP testing reduction, citing that the effects of the change will vary from team to team.
