Brazilian youngster completes comeback, wins ADAC Formula 4

Brazilian teenage sensation Rafael Camara pulled himself from the jaws of defeat to pick up his maiden victory in the ADAC Formula 4 on Sunday.

The 16-year-old daredevil who races for Prema Racing found himself in a tough spot as he started the race at seventh due to the grid reversal rule. However, he managed to close the gap in the fifth round to take third place and eventually second in the next round.

Camara continued his strong showing in the next few rounds as he overtook his competitors in Eau Rouge and Raidillon and controlled the difference until the checkered flag to secure his first Formula 4 win.

“I am overjoyed to have won. That was hard work but a lot of fun,” said Camara, who beat Kacper Sztuka of US Racing and his Danish teammate Conrad Laursen.

Camara and the rest of Prema Racing hope to sustain its momentum as action heads to Hockenheimring Baden-Wurttemberg next month.
